I am back full time at my position but with Cultural Recovery Fund II now available, I’m still around to talk to freelance artists who are looking for relief and protection or discretionary funds to handle the latest lockdown. Ping me if you need help with your application.

The Projects Lottery Grant window for application is open until April 2021. It is open to individuals and there are some key takeaways:

  • You do not need 10% match funding! If you're not an established artist with a company behind you but you have a ready portfolio, take advantage of this. After 2021 I imagine the Lottery program will go back to require match funding.

  • You’ll need to produce quickly. They want work within ‘short to medium time period’ so be prepared to produce as early as January 2021

  • Develop your project's case for support before application. They critically want Partners, and impact statements.

The DCMS and Arts Council Cultural Recovery Grant application window has opened and is due on Friday 21 August 2020. This is not for individuals or freelancers but if you were previously booked with an NPO institution and your contract was disrupted from the virus be sure to notify them about the grant. They can list your owed fees as a recovery expense so they don’t have any more expenditure and you can still get paid.

Creative Scotland’s relief grant for individual and freelance artists will re-open their applications on Sunday 20 April 2020. Please refer to their website for application guidance. They will be looking for evidence of previous public funding and a complete body of work which means that artists who are relatively new to the industry may face a disadvantage.
